The Herman Cain Campaign has a history and a pattern that not only aligns itself with right wing groups such as Americans for Prosperity and the American Enterprise Institute, it is literally run by their operatives. The Associated Press did a nice expose on this connection. However there is a lot more to this story than what they presented. Recent events have shown that two key individuals within the Cain Campaign are not only connected to AFP and actually worked for the group, but one of them actually helped Cain get his start in politics. This key individual is Linda Hansen.
Linda Hansen was the executive director of the Wisconsin Prosperity Network, which is funded by the Koch Brothers via Americans for Prosperity. She was also the creator of Prosperity 101, the Americans for Prosperity project that Herman Cain was a speaker for. This is an employee education program that focuses on health care reform and energy policy along with other political issues. They even launched the program together. There are videos on the interwebs showing such. (Click here to see)
Linda Hansen, a concerned mom from WI took it upon herself to fight back what she calls, "the liberal agenda". She saw her state flipping to the Democratic Party's control and wanted to do something about it. She then working with Mark Block, the senior AFP member in Wisconsin created the Wisconsin Prosperity Network. They invested in investigative journalists, a legal team, and other organizations to help beat back the liberal agenda in WI. "The only piece that was missing was voter education and mobilization and thus Prosperity 101 was born." This workshop was geared towards educating voters on issues that Americans for Prosperity, the Wisconsin Prosperity Network, and the Koch Brothers found imperative for their constituents and employees to know. This program was aimed at employees in the workplace. This is a worker education program on political issues.
The implications of a worker education program on political issues in the workplace are unparalleled. The oppression and suppression for fear of financial loss, especially in this economy is almost unavoidable. If a worker refuses to go to one of these seminars there is the prospect of them possibly losing pay or being fired. The company Menards has signed alongside with AFP and has policies that are well known throughout the state as harsh on employees. According to a report by Adele M Stan, "the company docked employees' pay for circumstances beyond their control, such as a customer failing to pick up an order within ten days. Menards store managers were penalized for failure to inspect employees' lunch boxes before they left the premises and were prohibited from hiring anyone who had at any time been a union member. One store manager told Nohl that he was 'forced to fire two promising management trainees because they'd been baggers at a unionized grocery store while in high school.' Another Menards manager told Forbes in 2003 that his contract contained a provision for 'a 60 percent cut in pay should his store be unionized.'" These are the practices that are supported by AFP, the Wisconsin Prosperity Network, and Prosperity 101.
There are no doubts that Linda Hansen helped Herman Cain get his Presidential Campaign off the ground. She is now a key aide to the Cain campaign. Her background shows that she is the creator of the Wisconsin Prosperity Network which is funded and aided by Americans for Prosperity and the Koch Brothers. It has recently come out that Linda Hansen and Mark Block may have used a corporation they created, Prosperity USA, very similar to Prosperity 101.... Americans for Prosperity, and the Wisconsin Prosperity Network in title, paid the bill for traveling all over the country for Herman Cain. Some of these expenses were before he announced he was running for President. There is no mention of these filings in Cain's Federal Election paperwork. Where this money actually came from is not certain. However, the dots are not hard to connect. Herman Cain is directly funded by the Koch Brothers to run for President. If they can't do it themselves, as David Koch did back in the 80s under the Libertarian ticket, they will have someone do it for them, by the name of Herman Cain; Linda Hansen is the key.
